Super nice

Build quality on this is amazing as normal for hjc and the size matches up to my old hjc. I was expecting it to be a little fatter than normal due to the sunglasses but they have hidden it so well you cant even tell it’s in there – my only issue with the helmet is the slider for the sunglasses is a bit loose and if you hit a decent bump on the road it can come down a little bit which gets a bit annoying. The vents on the helmet are crazy having the top one open nearly gave me brain freeze when I was going about 90 could image when the warm weather kicks in it’s going to great – Tom W, Sportsbike Shop customer

Good but not fantastic

Ridden in helmet few times, done maybe 150 – 200 km, so these are more first impressions rather than a full review. The first thing which struck me is ventilation. It’s fantastic. Comparing it to my old Nolan N86, in Nolan, it is almost nonexistent. In HJC I really have to close the main vent on chilly mornings, because it’s too cold. I didn’t also notice any noise increase when vents are opened. Chin vent to the mouth – a great thing. As for noise. I heard opinions that is is very quiet – hmmm, no. I was expecting it to be substantially quieter than Nolan, but it’s slightly quieter. Maybe this will change when I remove the screen from my MT07 – it directs airflow to the center of the helmet. It was quieter in Nolan, it may be also true for HJC. Maybe it would be quieter if the visor was tighter against the gasket on the sides. I *think* there are small gaps, however, I don’t hear any whistling noise (not yet). Stability-wise, it’s great when riding straight. I have a strange feeling that I have no helmet on my head. When doing shoulder checks, I feel some tension on my neck, but nothing extreme, it’s definitely less than my old Nolan. I’m referring here to highway speeds. It feels very light, I was really surprised on that matter. I won’t discuss fit and styling, because it is a personal thing, however, I may say that this particular painting is great (can’t say anything wrong about quality) and improves visibility – confirmed with my friend, car driver. Overall very good helmet, but for this price I’d expect better soundproofing and visor regulation. Anonymous, Sportsbike Shop customer

HJC convert

This is now my second HJC helmet and the third in our household as my wife also has one. I used to only wear Arai which I still rate as top helmets but their lack of an internal drop down tinted visor has meant the change to HJC and the R-PHA 70 is excellent, in construction and looks. One thing to be aware off is the sizing as the actual size on the helmet label is 1cm smaller than both the Web Site and the sticker on the box, so after ordering a Large I had to swap this for XL to get the original required size SBS sorted this out with no problem.
