BMW System 5

With outstanding aero-acoustic and aerodynamic properties as one of the quietest flip-up helmets on the market, System 5 still represents the highest level of technology in helmet design.

The helmet also offers optimal protection while keeping an incredibly low weight of just 1,690 grammes. The outer shell of fibreglass, carbon, and Kevlar laminate, coupled with an expanded inner shell of polystyrene, provide an extraordinary level of impact absorption. In addition to this an integrated chinstrap neckband provides additional protection by reducing any helmet twisting. This ensures that in case of an accident the helmet remains in the best possible position on the rider ‘s head.

Ventilation is provided for maximum airflow through generous ventilation openings located in a ‘vacuum’ zone and is continuously adjustable via a slide located at the back of the helmet. A two-way adjustable slide situated at the front of the helmet allows more ventilation. The interior lining of the DuPont Coolmax is also breathable, and can be removed and washed.

With the popular System 5 and System 6 helmets in mind, BMW Motorrad has designed the BMW Communication System which includes a helmet-specific installation kit. The much anticipated new BMW helmet communication system, which offers a range of technological advances over its predecessor, is available in BMW Motorrad dealerships and can be installed inside the helmet to provide wireless communication while riding.

For a closer fit, the BMW System 5 lid has a washable and removable liner and a chin strap with integrated neck strap. The flip-front helmet comes with an anti-scratch visor which has also been treated to be anti-fog. As with the shell, the visor is ventilated.
