Description: Bell Race Star
The Bell Race Star Helmet was designed for the enthusiast of the sport rider and the track day, who demands unparalleled results. Built using the latest carbon fibre technology and developed through extensive wind tunnel and track testing, the design of the Race Star features a superlight 3 K Carbon Shell, Raceview ergonomics for unrivalled visibility and the three-layer Flex Impact Liner to manage slow, mid and high-energy impacts. The Race Star continues the Bell Star line’s racing tradition, pushing the boundaries of the helmet technology into all new heights.
FIT: The Bell Race Star has a narrow neck roll opening and snug cheekpads for occluding noise and mitigating high-speed movement. As the foam compresses, these padded elements will conform to your unique features through a margin break of up to 20 per cent over time.
FLEX IMPACT LINER: Pro Star and Race Star helmets feature the first-of-its-kind Flex impact liner, a three-layer impact liner designed to manage energy from three potential impact scenarios: low, mid, and high-speed. Using three different materials at three different densities it does this. As the impact gets bigger, higher layers of density are engaged in energy management.
RACEVIEW: The Star comes with two unique profile shapes for two distinctly different riding types. The Raceview profile used on the Pro Star and Race Star uses a specially tailored orientation to achieve a tucked, more compact position. Conversely, the Streetview profile used for the Star is designed for a position that is more upright, more sporting or more touring.
PANOVISION VIEWPORT: One factor remains constant, no matter what or how you ride,: the need for maximum visibility. If it’s cycling or a simple mountain trip, the ability to make secure headchecks and clearly see obstacles is crucial. The Star’s Panovision viewport gives riders greater vertical and lateral visibility over the previous Star and more conventional perspectives. This allows the rider to see better in a tight or tucked position , making changes to the saferlane and head-checks.
VIRUS Cool Jade Power Mesh Liner: The Pro Star and Race Star features the most advanced liner available on the market. The Virus liner is designed to endure the rigours of hard use in harsh environments, allowing athletes to remain calm, stay relaxed and beat the funk. Virus CoolJade fabric was infused with recycled jade to create a natural refrigerating effect. Combined with CoolJade infused yarn, the ultra-wicking design reduces your skin surface temperature by as much as 10 ° F-keeping you relaxed, dry and cool.
3 K CARBON SHELL: The Race Star’s proven 3 K carbon fibre gives that helmet the look, performance and feel of a real race helmet.
MAGNEFUSION MAGNETIC CHEEKPADS: Allows for easy removal of the pads for washing and enables emergency responders to easily remove the cheekpads first before removing the helmet following an impact.
Great helmet, comfy and good safety
Overall, very happy with the helmet. It is comfortable for intermediate oval head shapes, good port for vision, lightweight, looks awesome and good airflow. With regards to airflow, whilst it is good, in the cold and wet you still get a little more than I would like. Changing the visor is so simple with the click of a button both sides of the visor.
There is a bit of whistling at higher speeds but maybe I need to play around with the vents a bit more so might just be me. If you are familiar with Bell helmets and some of their older iterations, you will know they had cutouts in the EPS liner to hold speakers for Bluetooth communicators, well these new 2016+ Bell helmets don’t so if you are looking at using a Bluetooth communicator, be aware. To summarise, really good helmet and would recommend, reason I gave 4 instead of 5 was, no cutouts for speakers and I personally think it should come with the transitions visor as standard. Crashed, worked perfectly
I bought my Race Star specifically to race with. I’m a flat tracker and we aren’t exactly the type of racers that are always found with the wheel side down. Things happen. We run bar to bar all the time. I got tangled up last week and ended up break dancing on my head on a hard packed clay surface during a race.
The Race Star saved my noggin. I got high sided bad and took a direct hit to the dome. The Flex Liner is absolutely worth the upgrade from the standard Star and did its job beautifully. In the following days, my head was the only part of my body that did not hurt. I’ve crashed quite a few motorcycles on and off road and wasted some helmets but can honestly say I absolutely love the way this thing took the impact.
It fits great, it vents exceptionally well, it pushes through the wind nicely and is quiet. The tear-off posts could use a little bit more room as was only able to squeeze 4-5 on before they didn’t want to properly seat anymore. The liner feels great and is easily washable. I’ve been a Bell wearer for many years and can say without a doubt that the Race Star is worth every penny and trumps any of their other models. Its your brain rattling around in there during an impact. Don’t skimp on your helmet choice.James W, RevZilla customer
